Week 5 - #2
It's only #2 and I've run out of days in week 5. Such a slacker. I did 43min and only jogged for 3 of those. I didn't have the energy tonight. But at least I did it. No mishaps tonight. Didn't even sweat too much. It's really cold in the basement with the a/c on. I actually had to wear a tshirt and exercise pants. Watched GG.
Oh forgot to mention we have participant #5. A full team! The newest member is Christa. Oh oh oh, I don't know her new last name. Christa, Tara's sister, formerly known as Christa Trombley. Welcome aboard!

a favorite quote
"sweat cleanses from the inside. It comes from places a shower can
never reach." Geroge Sheehan.
Ali, thanks for the quote. I think it's my favorite from quotes of the day. The next favorite being “I think you’re a hero, because you run a lot.” Augie Arms (3/13/06, on Nick's birthday no less).

Week 5 - #1
I'm writing this a day late. Last night I exercised to GG for 40min; 6min of jogging (2min EA at the 30, 20, 10). I felt great and so energized. But it was so hard to get myself motivated to start. It's strange, I have so much more energy at night, the 2min jogging even seemed easy last night, but it's so much harder to get myself on the treadmill when I'd rather just sit on the couch and veg. M@ talked me into staying up afterwards and watching King Kong (highly unexpected weird animals, I thought it was just about a big gorilla!). I ended up going to bed at 12:45. I'm paying for it today since Nick is in a very annoying phase of waking up before 6:00am. Yesterday it was 5:11, today 5:29. And today is my usual sleep in day but it's Father's Day. sigh. so so tired. M@'s exact words from last night after I told him that I wasn't going to watch a movie after exercising because I would be too tired today and wouldn't get a nap in (well it's somewhat accurate) was, "well if it's a matter of you either going to bed early OR you taking a nap tomorrow, I'd rather you stayed up and watched a movie with me and took the nap." I'm not the kind of wife who doesn't take her husband up on such offers. I WILL be taking a nap.
So I realize people are reading this and I don't want it to get to awfully boring. I think it's a lost cause, but I will give it a shot. Last night I once again was in my most beautiful jog bra (or skivvys as Ali called it, tho I do bother to wear shorts) and I once again forgot the wet wash cloth and I once again sweated like a piggy (I'm so jealous of people who don't sweat). Thankfully the kleenex were in reach. They aren't as effective as a washcloth but they are certainly better than nothing. So I put them on the treadmill and halfway through (the coordinated person that I am) I hit them with my flailing arms and knocked it down so it landed at my feet. I managed to keep moving, but the kleenex box didn't fair too well. I will include a visual of the kleenex box but it's up to you to close your eyes and visualize the rest.
Sorry, that's the best I can do.

Week 4 - #3
Today I did 45min. 3.3 walking with 4.4-4.6 jogging for 2min at 40, 30 and 20. Skipped 10. I was a little lazy since I wasnt' exercising for the APs. Weigh-in tomorrow so I don't want to eat them. I exercised just for the sake of exercising. I couldn't stand that I'd only exercised twice this week. Tho I did count the APs from mowing the lawn yesterday.
I was once again dressed in my sexy cool outfit (read with sarcasm). I watched Firefly. Perfect length for my normal session. It's not as much fun watching it on the little screen tho. It was a rare nighttime session, kind of feeling neutral about whether I had more energy. It was very tough to motivate myself to start.
As soon as I came upstairs M@ asked how many miles. D'oh! Forgot once again.

Week 4 - #2
Today I started with 45min. I jogged 2min at 40, 30, 20 and 10. I had to start part way through a GG since I hadn't finished an episode yesterday and also started a new one today that I didn't finish. It's the last episode on the DVD so I may have to do something else. I want to stick with the 45min (since it earns me 3.5 AP, wahoo!) so I'll have to watch 2 episodes of SITC.
It felt pretty good today. I was all about comfort. I looked scary but it was better than the long sleeved shirt and huge sweatpants that I wore yesterday. Only problem I encountered was that I had nothing to wipe off my sweaty face with. Since it's Saturday I was able to scream to matt to get me a wet washcloth. It helped but didn't stop me from sweating. Wish I didn't sweat so much. It's annoying. I wonder if I'll sweat less when I lose more weight. I've always been a major sweater. Today I wore just a jog bra and shorts. Glad I wasn't wearing this yesterday when the postman visited. I should put a shirt next to the treadmill for just such an occurence. Another small problem was that I couldn't find my sneakers for a few minutes before I started. I've got to keep them in the same place.

addendum to previous post......
just realized there were a couple of things that I forgot to include in my last blog entry. I did over 2.1 miles. I noticed the distance at 5min but forgot to check when I stopped.
Funny little anecdote from today's exercise. The kids wanted to watch the big movie upstairs while I was downstairs on the treadmill. First time I had ever let them be on a different floor while I exercised (and I will hesitate to ever do that again). Anna came down at about 2min (at the end of the 40min) and told me that the mailman was here. I interpreted that to mean the mailman had left the mail and she had seen him out the window. Silly me, she's never reported or noticed that before so don't know why I made that assumption. She came back down after my exercise ended and said that he was waiting for me. oops. he was at the door. So after I apologized to the mailman I had a talk with Anna about answering the door without me. From now on she will get me first. The mailman had it all figured out so he wasn't too annoyed. He's a nice guy.

Week 4 - #1
ohhhh I don't like that #1 is on Friday. I'm slacking. I took 3 days off! This morning Matt said that he doesn't have to "make" himself work out that he WANTS to. That is not me. I guess somedays it is, but mostly I'm making myself do this.
Today was kind of easy. I did 40min walking/jogging. I started at 3.3 until 30min, then jogged at 4.6 for 2min. I also jogged for 2min at 20min and 10min. It was hard. Jogging 1min is easy, 2min is much harder. I figure I'll do this for a couple of weeks until it feels better then I'll go 3min, then 4min, etc. I figured out the activity points (AP) earned by 34min walking and 6min jogging. They are 2min and 1min, respectively. That's .5 more points than if I walked for 40min. Not that it really matters since I will try not to use those extra points, but 3pts extra sounds so much better than 2.5 extra. It's 6 APs for 40min of jogging! But I hear you shouldn't use more than 4Aps anyway.
OK gotta go nap the littlest one and read to the biggest one.

Week 3 - #5
Wow that's 5x this week. Now I won't feel so guilty to be taking a couple of days off.
I mixed it up a little this time. I watched GG and set the treadmill for 40min. I walked at 3.2 the first 10min then jogged for 1min at all the 5min marks starting at 30min. The only exception was that I did 2min of jogging at 25min to see what it felt like. It was hard. It hurt. I don't know how I can jog without it hurting. Seems like I should be able to do more by now. But maybe I just need to do the 2min for a week to make it feel better.
Today 3.2 seemed too easy, I wonder if I should force myself to do 3.3. For some reason 3.3 seems to be so much harder to maintain.

Week 3 - #4
I walked Lego for 2miles this morning. We were at Becky's house and not near a treadmill. I tried to walk at a pace consistent with how I walk on the treadmill. No jogging, just walking. I think I will also do another walk/jog after the kids are in bed tonight and finish off the GG DVD and here's why.....
On the way home I was starving so I pulled into a rest area. Matt got out too (Poppa was in the car with the kids) and we went in separate directions while I went in search of something healthy and low in points. Matt went to McD's to get food for himself and the kids. I found a salad/wrap place called Fresh City. I chose the Caesar wrap even tho I know they can sometimes be very high in points. Well, checked it out when I got home....... 15points!! I couldn't believe it. Checked McD's points and I could have had 4 chicken nuggets and a small french fry for fewer points. So that goes to show how wise choices must be made. Fresh City does make their wrap without the dressing and croutons, but I didn't know that at the time. So now I need to earn back some points since I totally misbehaved yesterday at Griffin's party.

Week 3 - #3
I think I like evening exercise. Who knew. I again did it after the kids went to bed and again I felt like I had all kinds of energy. It will also help minimize the evening alcohol consumption, a win-win scenerio.
Tonight was a Gilmore Girls night. The latest arrived in the mail today. Funny little anecdote.... It's the first episode of the third season and it starts out in a dream sequence where Lorelie wakes up with Luke in the house and they kiss like they are living together. Only I didn't know it was a dream sequence and I freaked out thinking I had missed some episodes and that I must have messed up the order of the DVDs in my Netflix queue. (I know Luke and Lorelie eventually hook up but I haven't reached that part yet) So I stopped the treadmill and the movie and ran upstairs to check. It all checked out. So I played it again hoping that it was perhaps a dream sequence. And it was. Geesh, felt like killing the writers at that moment. So anyway, since it was a Gilmore walk/run I did 40min (hour sitcom as opposed to 1/2 hour) and ran at the 5min. Only I skipped a couple and now can't remember which ones I skipped. I did a faster paced walk for 5min toward the end. Didn't notice the distance.
After I was done with my walk/jog I proceeded to watch 2 more episodes. Love that show. Loved SITC as much the first time I watched it. Glad I have that to fall back on. Seems like the Gilmore Girls never stick around long enough.

Week 3 - #2
this was my first night walk/jog. It was surprisingly awesome. I had more energy and really enjoyed it. I don't know why. It was contrary to my expectations. Plus it was the SITC where Carrie meets Aiden. It's different watching it the second time when you know what's to come. I really liked the Aiden character plus I really like John Corbett.
I did 30min (could have gone longer) and 1min jog at the 5mins. I jogged at 4.7 and for a change actually did the jog at the last 5min mark. Didn't notice how far I went. Strange tho, I stopped jogging before the episode finished. Usually it finishes at around 2min.
